Funds will be dedicated to the Pearson Field Education Center's STEM-based aviation education programs, which introduce students, and the public to potential careers in aviation through a curriculum steeped in the rich history of Pearson Field. Proceeds will support programs such as aviation summer camps and education resource fairs, open cockpit day events, school outreach programs, and free Open Saturdays in the learning lab.
Our Mission: Through aviation, we inspire youth to pursue education and careers in STEM fields, while instilling an appreciation for the people, events, and innovations of historic Pearson Field.
Come down to historic Pearson Field every Saturday from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. to experience the Fort Vancouver National Trust's Pearson Field Education Center. This free educational experience is open to the public and features our Flight Simulator Lab, vertical wind tunnel, glider-building station, historic airplanes on-site for viewing, collections on display, and various ongoing educational programs that will propel students of all ages into the wonderful world of flight.
These five-day camps introduce the future young aviators to the basics of flight, the principles of aviation, a visit to an air museum, a behind the scene visit to Portland International Airport. Camp culminates with the student operating the controls of a flying airplane out of historic Pearson Field. Hands-on activities include building gliders, use of the flight-simulator lab, open cockpit and familiarization of various aircraft and a historical segment on history of the first airport in the Pacific Northwest and the Golden Age of Aviation.
